Over the past six years, I have systematically used a video camera (DV pro) to document rehearsals in order to provide all those involved with an overview and to allow them to participate in the creation of the 'whole'. Most recently, I have filmed concurrently with my assistant Nikola Eberth. The use of a second camera enables us to register the creative process in a continuous and organic manner. Since the production of MARIA STUART, the goal has been to make a theatrical film that does not show the finished product but rather the road leading to it. The camera functions as a privileged witness in this search process. The film shows an actor feeling around tentatively, searching for the authenticity of the text and the part. A unique document.
